An order goal bar is an [Order goal](https://backtrackhq.com/docs/promotions/order-goal/) with
no upsell offer: shoppers see the progress bar, but no product
suggestions under it. It gives money off the order when the cart
reaches a total.

## At a glance

| | |
| --- | --- |
| **Gallery group** | Promotions with storefront widgets |
| **Discount** | Money off the order at cart totals. Default: 5% off from 50, 10% off from 100 and 15% off from 200, in your store currency. |
| **Theme block** | **AndOr Order goal**, on the cart page or a product page |
| **Upsell offer** | None. For product suggestions under the bar, use [Order goal](https://backtrackhq.com/docs/promotions/order-goal/). |
| **What the app embed adds** | Your brand color, the parts in the cart drawer (if any), shared look settings and your Storefront text. The block shows without it. |

## Before you start

- Decide your cart totals and the reward at each one.
- Turn on the app embed if you want the bar in the cart drawer. See
[Install and turn on the app embed](https://backtrackhq.com/docs/get-started/install/#turn-on-the-app-embed). For what works without it, see [the app embed table](https://backtrackhq.com/docs/widgets/app-embed/#what-works-without-the-app-embed).

## Set it up in the app

1. **Open Promotions, click Create promotion, then click Choose on the Order goal bar card.**

It is under **Promotions with storefront widgets**.

(Screenshot: The promotion gallery with the Order goal bar card and its Choose button)

2. **Set the tiers in the Discount section.**

The page starts with three tiers: 5% off from 50, 10% off from 100
and 15% off from 200, in your store currency.

3. **Check the Storefront widgets section.**

**Show storefront widgets** is on by default. Leave it on.

4. **Set the dates in Schedule and status, then click Make it live.**

Or click **Save as draft** to finish later.

## Add it to your theme

> **Note:** **What's next** appears after you click **Make it live**,
> not after **Save as draft**. It goes away when you dismiss it or leave
> the page. No What's next panel? Open **Promotions**. In the row's
> **Storefront widgets** column, click **Add block**. It shows when the block isn't in your theme yet.

1. **Under What's next, click Open theme editor.**

**Add the widget to your theme** names the **AndOr Order goal**
block. The link opens your cart page, where shoppers watch their
   total.

2. **Drag the block above the cart lines or above the checkout button, then click Save.**

(Screenshot: The theme editor with the AndOr Order goal block added)

3. **For the cart drawer, turn on Also show in the cart drawer.**

Add the block to a product page too, and turn on **Also show in the
cart drawer** there. The drawer copy shows only on pages where the
block is placed. It needs the app embed and a theme that sends Shopify's storefront cart events, like Horizon 4.0+ or Dawn 15.5+. See
   [Theme requirements](https://backtrackhq.com/docs/get-started/theme-requirements/).

All block settings are on the
[Goal bar widget](https://backtrackhq.com/docs/widgets/goal-bar/#block-settings) page.

## Check it on your store

1. **Under What's next, click View on store.**

It opens your store in a new tab. Add a product to the cart and open
the cart. You see how far the cart is from the next reward, for
example "You're $20.00 away from 10% off your order".

2. **Add more until you pass a total, then go to checkout.**

The bar shows the reward as reached, and the discount comes off at
   checkout.

**Not showing?**

- The block is not in your theme, or you didn't click **Save** in the
  theme editor.
- The discount is not running yet. Check its dates.
- The discount needs a code, or only some products count toward the
  total.
- The drawer copy is missing: turn on **Also show in the cart drawer**
on a block on that page, and turn on the app embed.
- JavaScript is off in the shopper's browser.

See [What it needs to appear](https://backtrackhq.com/docs/widgets/goal-bar/#what-it-needs-to-appear)
and [Widgets not showing](https://backtrackhq.com/docs/help/widgets-not-showing/).

## Turn the widget on or off

In **Promotions**, use the row's **Storefront widgets** switch. The
discount keeps working at checkout.

## Settings and limits

(Screenshot: The Discount section of an order goal bar promotion with its settings)

| Setting | What it does | Default |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Name** | The name of the discount in the app and in Shopify. At checkout, shoppers see each tier's **Discount message** instead. Up to 60 characters, and different from your other discounts' names. | Order goal bar |
| **Discount tiers** | Each tier applies when the cart meets its minimum subtotal. Click **Add another tier** for another step. | Three tiers |
| **Discount type** | Percentage or Fixed amount. | Percentage |
| **Discount percentage** | The percent off for a tier. With **Fixed amount**, this field is **Discount amount**. | |
| **Minimum subtotal required** | The minimum order subtotal to qualify for a tier. | |
| **Discount message** | Shown to shoppers at checkout when the tier applies. If blank, shoppers see the discount name. Edit it to match your currency. | "5% off orders over $50" (one per tier) |
| **Combine with** | Which other discounts can apply too. | **Product discounts** and **Shipping discounts** ticked |

With **Product discounts** and **Shipping discounts** ticked, the bar
can show free shipping and money off together.

Limits:

- The goal bar needs a discount on the whole order that starts at a
minimum spend and works without a code.
- If only some products count toward the total, the bar does not show.
- The goal bar needs JavaScript in the shopper's browser.
