Raise order value with volume tiers
On this page
The goal: shoppers who would buy one item buy three or six, because they see what each step saves them before they add to cart.
What you build: a Volume discount promotion. It gives a bigger discount at each quantity and shows the tiers on the product page as a picker that sets the quantity.
What it takes: one promotion and one theme block.
Before you start
- Pick the products that sell well in more than one, like consumables, basics or gifts. The default is All products.
- Turn on the app embed once. See Turn on the app embed.
1. Create the promotion
Open Promotions, click Create promotion, then click Choose on the Volume discount card. It starts with 3 items for 10% off, 6 for 15% and 12 for 20%. Change the tiers to steps that fit your margins.
Full steps: Set it up in the app.
2. Write the “add more” message
Keep Add an upsell offer on. Its message tells shoppers how many more items reach the next tier, and its button sets the quantity.
More on messages: Message and where it shows.
3. Add the block to your product page
Click Make it live, then Open theme editor under What’s next. Place the AndOr Volume tiers block near the price and click Save.
Full steps: Add it to your theme. Layouts and block settings: Volume tiers.
4. Check it, then watch the numbers
Open a product, pick a tier and check the discount at checkout. See Check it on your store.
After a few days, open Analytics to see how the offer does. See Offer and rule stats.
Tips
- Keep every Tier discount a percentage off. Storefront widgets only show percentage tiers.
- Prefer a plain table with no upsell offer? Use the Volume price table promotion.
- With Exclude products already on sale on, widgets cannot show the discount. See Settings and limits.
