Promotions and upsell offers
On this page
AndOr has two building blocks for growing your sales. They work together, but they are not the same thing.
- A promotion is a discount plus the storefront widgets that show it. You build it in AndOr from the gallery. It can also have an upsell offer.
- An upsell offer is a suggestion: what to suggest, where it shows and the message. It always points to a discount, from a promotion or one you already have.
So a promotion can live without an offer, but an offer always needs a discount.

Upsell offer
Three examples
A sale price, no offer
A 20% sale on a collection. The Sale price promotion makes the discount and shows the crossed-out price on your store. There is nothing to suggest, so there is no offer.
- Its numbers: the Promotions list, and By promotion on the Analytics page.
A bundle, with an offer
15% off when a shopper buys one item from each group. The Bundle promotion makes the discount, the widget and an offer that suggests the matching item on the product page.
- Its numbers: the promotion on the Promotions list and in By promotion. The offer on the Upsell offers tab and in By upsell offer.
A Shopify discount you already have, with an offer
An automatic Buy X get Y discount you made in Shopify. Show it on your store from Storefront display, then add an offer to it on the Upsell offers tab. No promotion is needed. See Show discounts you already have and Create an upsell offer.
- Its numbers: the offer on the Upsell offers tab and in By upsell offer. The discount’s own sales in Shopify’s discount report.
