Privacy and data
AndOr keeps only the data it needs to run your rules and count your results. This page sums up the main points. Read the full privacy policy.
Shopper data
- AndOr does not store shoppers’ personal data, such as names, emails or addresses.
- AndOr reads your store’s orders. Shopify asks you to approve this when you install. AndOr uses it to bill you by your store’s orders a month and to show Analytics.
- The order data AndOr gets has no customer fields.
- For an order without an AndOr offer or discount, AndOr keeps only your store’s count of orders that month. It keeps the order id for 7 days, so no order is counted twice, and keeps no other order details.
- For an order with an AndOr offer or discount, AndOr keeps an order record to count results: the order id, date, money amounts, quantities and the AndOr offers or discounts involved.
- These order records are kept for 90 days, then deleted automatically.
Storefront counting
- AndOr counts offer views, clicks and adds on your store only after the shopper allows analytics in your store’s cookie or privacy banner.
- Until the shopper answers the banner, nothing is sent.
- Shoppers who don’t allow analytics are not counted. This is why visit numbers can be lower than in other reports.
- The events are anonymous. They have no name, email or customer id.
See How we count.
Data deletion
AndOr handles Shopify’s data protection requests. When Shopify asks AndOr to delete a customer’s data or a shop’s data, AndOr acts on it. After you uninstall, Shopify asks AndOr to delete your store’s data, and all your order data goes with it.
Shopify removes AndOr’s discounts and rules when you uninstall. After 48 hours AndOr deletes your store data, orders and upsell offers. Your rule settings are kept, so you can bring them back with Restore if you install AndOr again. Upsell offers can’t be restored.
In the app
Some sessions in the AndOr admin may be recorded to help us improve the app. What you type is masked in those recordings, except a few fields such as rule names and search. Discount codes are always masked.
Services we use
- Cloudflare hosts the app and stores its data.
- PostHog runs product analytics and the session recordings above.
- Sentry monitors errors.
- Crisp runs the support chat in the app.
- Google Analytics measures visits to our Shopify App Store listing. It is not used in the app.
- Slack sends our own team alerts, such as installs and uninstalls.
None of them receive your shoppers’ personal data. Order data is never sent to PostHog, Sentry, Crisp, Google or Slack.
